Jack Lamburn has designed a new car concept named Lotus Esira Concept during his final year at Northumbria University in Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK. The new design is so creative that totally follows the Lotus philosophy of innovation, lightness and agility. This car of the future is powered by a hydrogen fuel cell system which drives two electric motors turning the rear wheels. Materials that make up the car are d3o and metal rubber. The “d3o” is a non-Newtonian material that usually behaves like a rubbery gel, but when struck immediately turns into an extremely sturdy solid, thus provides complete protection to the rider in case of an accident. The metal rubber can be stretched and molded like rubber, making the bodywork react to the movement of the wheels and suspension.

Moreover, it changes shape to follow the angle of the wheels when the front wheels are turned, thus to keep the airflow as smooth as possible. The interior is made of carbon fiber and a honeycomb structure for ensuring safety to driver and passengers.

The Lotus Esira Concept will be the company’s vision for the car of 2025. Let’s see some more details about it from the following pictures.
