Marilyn Sunderland purchased her ultra high-speed carving/engraving tool. She decided to try carving gourds. She loves the relief effects the carving gives, and she uses her painting techniques to enhance the carvings.
She usually carve the gourd first, before painting it with oils, acrylics, wood stains or dyes. She loves to carve leaves and flowers on my gourds. Many times, She cuts out individual leaves or flowers from other gourds and then attach them to her gourd to enhance the relief design. She love the versatility of the gourd. The gourd has become her canvas for her creative expressions.
