In a recent study, Stanford University found out that people that spend time outside are more likely to be inspired, and when they are surrounded by a natural environment they perceive time differently. When you’re outside, observing the world around you, a certain sense of awe rushes you and you feel that time flows by slower.

When sitting outside, relaxed, you don’t feel pressured by time or by the lack of it, and this is one main way to reduce stress. An inspired mind is one that can think freely without the added pressure of stress.

Furthermore, mother nature can be a good helper to improve your memory. Of course, in order to reach your true creative potential, you need a good memory, so that you can pull new ideas and creative solutions from past experiences. A good memory will help you connect different ideas from different domains. There are studies that show memory improves for persons that spend more time in nature.

What’s interesting is that a study found out that students that had walked in the woods, large parks, or other similar areas had a 20% better score on memory tests compared to those students that walked in cities.

What does that mean in terms of creativity? Ultimately, having regular walks outside, and observing nature can significantly help you overcome some of the creative blocks that you might face. Our body and brain work using lots of oxygen, and if you want to have a healthy and creative lifestyle, you need to give the brain the oxygen it needs to prosper.

Birdwatching can be a good choice

One of the challenges of being outside is to find something that keeps you away from your phone and from the stress and anxiety that your phone can bring in your life.
