Rescuers Save These Two Dogs From Living In An Abandoned School Building, But They Discover Something Shocking

15. Dogs On the Street Are Suffering

It’s a sad truth to admit, but there are more stray dogs living on the streets than ever before in 2017. Despite the hard work of rescue organizations and local humane societies, pets are still being abandoned and let loose on the streets every day.

14. An Ordinary Rescue?

A rescue group thought they were on an ordinary rescue mission to save two stray dogs from an abandoned school. Unbeknownst to them, their mission would soon involve saving more than just two lives that day….

13. Hungry and Hot

It was a hot summer day in June 2017 when a few good locals discovered two stray dogs that had been living under an abandoned school. Knowing they were hungry and in need of assistance, they decided to call for help thinking it would be a simple pick up.

12. Hope for Paws to the Rescue

The call was received by Los Angeles rescue organization, Hope for Paws who immediately drove to the abandoned school. At first glance, they couldn’t find the dogs the people had called about. After searching the premises for a bit, they found an opening into the building. However, the big question was would the poor pooches be in there?

11. Super Nervous and Unsure

The rescue group waited patiently outside of the opening and after awhile a very nervous pit bull stuck her head out. At first she was overly cautious, but when she saw the rescuers had food, she began to move closer. A few moments later, the pit bull’s friend, a German Shepard came out for a friendly greeting. It was then, the rescue group noticed something suspicious.

10. A Surprise Pregnancy

Upon inspecting the female pit, the rescuers realized she was VERY pregnant. This put Hope for Paws into high gear, knowing they had to rescue both dogs quickly because they didn’t want to put the mom-to-be at risk.

9. Slowly but Surely

Thankfully, both dogs were quite hungry and the rescuers were able to lure both of them away from the safety of the abandoned school. Working slowly and steadily, they brought the doggy duo closer to their car with the hopes of quickly catching them.

8. Hungry and Afraid

The dogs were still very wary, but they were also hungry. Thankfully, the big bag of McDonald’s was doing the trick. With a little bit of love and care, the dogs were slowly coming around. However, the rescuers decided it was time for a new tactic to speed things up.

7. A Cagey Idea

The rescuers placed some food in a cage, which quickly drew the attention of the German Shepard and within minutes he was captured and ready to go. Unfortunately, this frightened the pit bull and she began to run away back towards the school.

6. Scared and Confused

The pit bull escaped into the school and disappeared. Nowhere to be found, the rescuers quickly set up another cage with food outside of her hiding spot. Waiting patiently out of sight, it took the pit bull over 30 minutes to come out of hiding, but they finally were able to capture her.

5. Worried about the Puppies

The rescuers knew that the mama pit bull could give birth at any moment and they worried about her stress levels from being caged. They worked quickly to load the dogs into the car so they could drive back to the shelter. Along the way, they named the pit bull Tooney and the German Shepard, Sully.

4. Nervous at the Vet

At first, Sully and Tooney were terrified when they arrived at the vets office, but once they were reunited they began to calm down. They were finally safe and off the streets!

3. Loved and Pampered

Both dogs were taken to the Hope for Paws shelter where they were pampered with treats, a hot bath and all the love they could ask for. All that was left was waiting for Tooney’s puppies to arrive.

2. Puppies Everywhere!

When the big day finally came, Tooney gave birth to nine adorable pit/shepard mixes. All of the puppies were perfectly healthy and grew big and strong over the next few months. Soon it would be time to find them all new homes.

1. New Beginnings

Sully found his forever family right away and shortly after all nine puppies were adopted. While Tooney still waits to find her forever home, she is currently being spoiled rotten at Hope for Paws where she is showered with all the love she missed while living on the streets. A happy ending for all, indeed!
