30. It Started with a Camper…
When a young couple saw this rundown camper for sale, they knew they had to have it. Despite it looking like an old sardine can, they saw the potential and decided to renovate it. The end result is nothing short of spectacular. We promise it’s going to knock your socks off!
29. Holy Train Wreck, Batman!
As you can see the inside has seen better days. The flooring has been completely destroyed and the insulation is most definitely not up to code. However, the couple would not be deterred. This project would go down in history as one of their greatest accomplishments!
28. Let’s Start At the Very Beginning…
The first step was to remove the windows and doors. This would allow for a close inspection of the frame and its integrity. As you can see this camper is looking worse than when we started.
27. Aluminum Gone Bad
Of course, removing the aluminum siding also needed to take place. We’re not sure that’s going to be put back up any time soon. Maybe they should melt it down for a lifetime supply of tin foil?
26. This Looks Bad…
Once the aluminum siding was removed, the couple realized the structure was completely useless. Water damaged had destroyed the wood frame, so they would have to start over from scratch.
25. …This Looks Worse
The camper was broken down to its base, revealing the foundation was not structurally sound. The couple would have to rebuild the base if this camper was ever going to get on the road again. Personally, we think a trip to the local dump is in order!
24. A Little Welding Action
Thankfully, this couple doesn’t give up too easily. The first step was to weld a new base from the existing structure and treat the metal with an anti-rust coating. The base had to be able to withstand the elements if it was going to be used for travel.
23. Water-Proofed and Ready for Action
Can you believe this is the same base? For a DIY renovation, this is off to a pretty spectacular start. You would think this was from a brand new camper. How can we hire this guy?
22. New Flooring is a Go
The next step was to replace the plywood and rebuild the floor. This is definitely a step in the right direction and our faith is slowly beginning to be restored. Could this couple really make it work? Only time will tell…
21. Banging Out the Aluminum
It seems we misjudged the condition of the aluminum siding because it definitely was repairable after all! Apparently, all it needed was a little TLC and a good pounding with a mallet to get out all of the dents. We’re not easily impressed, but this handy couple is beginning to win us over.
20. Time for Some Cutting
Next up would be cutting out the new walls. Thankfully, the aluminum siding provided the perfect pattern. We can begin to imagine what the finished product could look like.
19. The Walls Are Up!
Not so fast! There is still a lot of work to be done. After attaching the new walls, it was time to see which appliances could possibly fit in the new space. Of course, a sink needed to be installed as well. This is what we call “camper chic.” There’s NO roughing it here that’s for sure.
18. The Importance of Storage
As the dream renovation became more of a reality, it was time to start building storage space. This is the beginnings of a shelving unit. It may not look like much now, but wait until you see the finished product.
17. Crafty Chic
Ta-Da! We approve! This definitely is all about maximizing minimal space and we love it! Can we have one of those in our home? Do you offer free delivery?
16. A Little Reinforcement
With the walls in place, it was now time to reinforce the structure before insulation installation. As you can see, this camper is now wife-approved. Remember, if mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy.
15. Framework in Place
This will eventually store a water tank and offer up some cargo space. No we aren’t lying, wait until you see it. It may be hard to suspend disbelief right now, but when you see the finished product you’re going to want one of your own.
14. Thank God for Fans
The couple even installed a ceiling fan. Smart move, since summers are becoming more sweltering thanks to El Nino! This is definitely some five-star camper material right here.
13. It’s Prime Time!
It’s time for the caulking and primer coat. As you can see this is finally starting to come together. We can’t imagine the amount of work that went into this endeavor. Personally, we like to spend our weekends binge watching Netflix, but all the power to those who like building things all day.
12. Shelves Installed!
The shelving unit is painted! We’re not sure about the blue and green combo just yet, but will reserve judgement for the final reveal.
11. The Start of the Kitchen
The kitchen may be a work-in-progress, but we can see the potential. Although, the blue, yellow and green combo still hasn’t grown on us just yet. Here’s hoping the grand finale will be impressive.
10. Insulation is Expected
Time for the insulation! This time it will be done right. There’s no room for error after all the work that’s been put into the renovation. The finish line is in sight!
9. Time for Windows!
Now’s the time to cut out the windows. It’s nice to see the wife is willing to pitch in and make this a true couple’s project. She seems like she has a handle on things. We wouldn’t get in her way that’s for sure!
8. The Beginning of the End
The aluminum siding is finally back on! We love it! No seriously, it looks great. There’s only a few more steps until the final reveal. Are you trembling with anticipation?
7. Let There Be Light!
A new outside light was installed to offer some ambiance for the outdoors. We can imagine sitting on a chair outside in the woods, the golden light offering a halo of protection. We have a feeling this couple is going to have some amazing adventures!
6. Custom Counters
Some wood strips were glued together to create this one-of-a-kind counter top. What a great way to utilize all of your resources. It’s also very classy.
5. It’s Electric…Boogie Woogie-Lectric!
Finally, it was time for some electrical wiring. As you can see he’s taking great care to make sure it is all in place correctly. We’d be lucky to get a light bulb working, let alone an entire camper. Someone call the fire inspector, stat!
4. A Nice Place to Relax
At long last, the finishing touches are here! Can you honestly believe how awesome this looks? It’s definitely got a sexy 70’s chic vibe and we’re diggin’ it! Honestly, that futon is looking really comfy right about now.
3. A Fabulous Commode
Did we mention it has a fully functioning bathroom? While there wasn’t room for a shower, at least you have the comfort of knowing you won’t be forced to squat in the bushes. You never know what’s crawling around out there!
2. Blast from the Past Kitchen
There’s also a kitchen! Impressive, right? We are loving the counter tops and orange linoleum. Maybe it’s time for a kitchen makeover!
1. The Grand Finale
It’s simply astonishing the work this couple did to turn that busted old camper into a diamond in the rough. This simply shows that with hard work and determination, anything is possible!
