Cows are some of the sweetest animals and their darling personalities is how many people fall in love with them. When one couple began to bottle feed a calf that they rescued they had no idea what sort of adventure they’d be in for. This baby calf now believes that it’s a puppy and it frolics and give kisses like one too!
20. Facebook Browsing
Michael Holmes was browsing through Facebook one day, looking through friend’s posts and various ads. Nothing really out of the ordinary was standing out to him until he came across one ad in particular. It blew him away…
19. The Ad
The ad that Michael came across read: “bottle-fed calf.” It seems that some people were selling an adorable baby cow as a commodity. Michael was so upset to see this.
18. Disturbing
“It was disturbing for me to consider the doe-eyed baby was being sold as household merchandise along with rusty golf clubs and outdated appliances, but it was more disturbing to consider his fate,” Michael wrote. So how much were the sellers asking for the baby cow?
17. Small Price
The sellers were surprisingly not asking for a hefty amount. They were willing to sell the calf for three hundred dollars. So Michael decided that he would offer them a better deal…
16. Better Deal
“The sellers were asking three hundred dollars. I offered them six hundred if they’d bring him to us,” Michael wrote. So the sellers agreed and they began to make the arrangements. Michael and his wife were in for an interesting turn of events.
15. Never Before
Michael and his wife had never taken care of a baby calf before. However, they weren’t too worried about it. So why did the couple feel so confident that they could take care of a baby calf?
14. Animal Rescuers
“We were already home to several rescued horses, dogs and cats and would dedicate our one vacant barn stall to the little Jersey steer,” Michael wrote. So Michael and his wife already had a ton of experience working with large barn animals.
13. Golden Rule
“When dealing with animals, we operate under the principle that however you treat them, they will treat you in return. They will rise to your level of expectation. We had already seen this with “feral” cats that now flop on their backs for a belly rub whenever we walk past.”
12. Puppy Treatment
So the baby calf finally arrived and the couple were excited to see him. They gave him the name Bobo and began to take care of him. In fact, they began giving him the ‘puppy treatment’ from the beginning.
11. Advised
“We’ve treated Bobo like a puppy since he arrived, much to the dismay of the veterinarian’s and “cow people” we’ve met along the way. “You’ll need a stock for him,” our vet advised.” However, Michael and his wife weren’t swayed by other people’s opinions.
10. Cautious
The couple, however, did remain cautious when taking care of Bobo. Bobo, however, wanted to be treated just like the pups. He wanted belly rubs just like the other dogs!
9. Doggy Behavior
“As a result, he acts like an overgrown dog, looking to play and get his hair brushed and his belly scratched. We let him wander the barn at night when we tuck everyone in and dole out nighttime treats.”
8. Thankful
““Bobo, it’s bedtime” is all I need to say for him to turn around and go back to his bedroom. We never dreamt our lives would one day be changed by a cow, but we’re thankful every day that we happened to be in the right place at the right time.”
7. Perfect Bedroom
Michael and his wife have also gone to great lengths to make sure that Bobo is comfortable in his new home. They created the most wonderful bedroom for him. It even has his name placed on the door.
6. Getting Bigger
Bobo has been getting bigger and bigger thanks to all of the love and care that he has been receiving. He is no longer bottle-fed, however he still has many of his puppy mannerisms!
5. Social Media
“Bobo McCowlister is no longer a bottle-fed calf, but is always looking to make new friends on Facebook,” Michael writes. It’s true that Bobo has a Facebook account and he is always new friends to connect with!
4. Facebook
On Bobo’s Facebook account, the couple uploads some funny and adorable images of the cow and his daily routine. He is always getting into some fun and people love to see what Bobo will be doing next!
3. Having Fun
Bobo has been enjoying his life on the farm, frolicking around. He loves getting pet right under his chin and appreciates lots of rubs and pets. He is quite an affectionate cow.
2. Wonderful Decision
Michael and his wife are so happy with the decision they made to rescue Bobo. No one knows what would have happened to Bobo if the couple hadn’t intervened and given him a happy home.
1. Happy Cow
Bobo is quite the happy cow and continues to enjoy his life. Thanks to one wonderful couple this cow was spared a life of uncertainty. Now he prances around like a pup and everyone loves him!
