These Actors Refused to Kiss Their Co-Stars on Screen

The chemistry you feel between two actors when they star in a romantic movie together can seem so genuine and real. Well, that’s why they call it acting! Sometimes the actors don’t get along at all and even hate working with each other. These actors and actresses were so adamant about not wanting to kiss their co-stars on screen that they ended up writing the kiss out of the scripts. Leona Lewis and Chace Crawford

How could you say no to kissing the heartthrob Chace Crawford? Well, Leona Lewis did it when he appeared in her music video for “I Will Be.” “I think [Lou Al-Chamaa] would [get jealous] if I was kissing them, but I’d never do that,” Lewis said. So, to keep everyone’s feelings safe, she decided to skip the lip locking.

Fawad Khan and Alia Bhatt

Pakistani actor Fawad Khan refused to kiss his co-star Alia Bhatt because he wanted to stay chaste. So, when they absolutely had to kiss, they did a fake kiss. Fawad still flinched as Alia came close to his face though.

Tisha Campbell and Martin Lawrence

There was a lot of drama between Tisha Campbell and Martin Lawrence by the time the fifth season of Martin came around. Tisha refused to kiss Martin, or even film any scenes with him at all after she filed sexual harassment charges.

Neal McDonough refused to film any love scenes with actress Virginia Madsen while filming Scoundrels. He was so adamant that he ended up losing the role and was replaced by David James Eliott.

Kirk Cameron is known for being an evangelical Christian. So, after he married his former co-star Chelsea Noble from Growing Pains, he vowed not to kiss actresses on screen to respect his wife. So, when it came to filming a kissing scene in Fireproof, Kirk’s wife came to set as a body double for the actress and they shot the scene in silhouette.

Janet Jackson and Tupac

There was definite chemistry between Janet Jackson and Tupac while filming Poetic Justice. However, Janet was pretty hesitant about filming kissing scenes with Tupac because of his reputation for being a Casanova. At the time, AIDS has just come to light and it wasn’t yet known how exactly it was spread.

Lindsay Lohan has had her fair share of on-screen kisses. However, when it came to kissing Charie Sheen while filming Scary Movie 5, she refused completely. So, they used a body double so Lohan wouldn’t have to kiss the actor.

While filming Six Degrees of Separation, Will Smith was asked to kiss another man on camera since his character was gay. Smith asked friend Denzel Washington for advice on the matter where he advised him not to do the scene. So, the director settled with a fake kiss.

Kevin Hart and Another Man

Kevin Hart actually turned down roles, such as in Tropic Thunder, because he didn’t want to have to kiss a man. “I can’t [play a gay character] because I don’t think I’m really going to dive into that role 100 percent, because of the insecurities about myself trying to play that part. What I think people are going to think while I’m trying to do this is going to stop me from playing that part the way I’m supposed to,” Hart said.

Sunny Leone and Anybody

Actress Sunny Leone refused to kiss anybody that she may work with on set. She even has a no kissing clause in her contract. We still don’t know why she is such a stickler about this, especially when she still films love scenes.

Reese Witherspoon and Rob Pattinson

While Reese Witherspoon did share a passionate kiss with Rob Pattinson for their movie Water for Elephants, she definitely wasn’t happy about it. Apparently, while filming their love scene, Rob had a nasty cold.

Brad Pitt is no stranger to kissing beautiful actresses on screen. However, when it came to kissing co-star Cate Blanchett in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Pitt refused. Some speculate that it was out of respect for his now ex-wife Angelina Jolie because they were going through some rough times. Later on, the director convinced Pitt to do one kiss scene.

Julia Roberts wasn’t enthusiastic about kissing Nick Nolte in I Love Trouble. This probably has to do with the fact that they really did not get along when the cameras weren’t rolling. The two did share one kissing scene together.

However, recently she has grown not to like it and only wants to kiss her husband. “Sometimes I’m doing my Hallmark movies and we’ve got a new guy in each movie.
